Length of Employment: 15 weeks

Description: Working in a multi-disciplinary setting. The successful candidates will be exposed to most aspects of public health inspection along with an introduction to other public health disciplines.

Education:

  • enrolment in Environmental Health Program approved by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors Board of Certification

Skills:

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • knowledge of the Health Protection and Promotion Act and applicable legislation
  • computer skills
  • self-motivation

Conditions:

  • terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees Collective Agreement
  • a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a safe and well-maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer
  • immunizations in accordance with Board policy including annual influenza immunization unless medically contra-indicated.

Hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday

Wage: $23.29 per hour

Public Health Nurses – Temporary Full-Time

We currently have an opportunity for two temporary full-time Public Health Nurses starting immediately and concluding on December 31st, 2019.

Summary: The Public Health Nurse blends knowledge and skills from nursing and public health sciences to promote and preserve the health of the community. Under the direction of management, the Public Health Nurse participates in needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of assigned public health programs and services.

Education:

  • a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and eligible to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Skills:

Demonstrated skills in:

  • assessment, program planning, implementation and evaluation
  • health promotion and community development
  • clinical nursing practices such as injections, case management and counselling
  • oral and written communication
  • leadership, facilitation and team building
  • current experience in public health nursing preferred
  • computer skills an asset

Conditions:

  • terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Ontario Nurses Association Collective Agreement
  • obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector screen
  • immunizations in accordance with Board Policy including annual influenza immunization unless medically contra indicated.
  • valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a safe and well maintained vehicle suitable for carrying out duties on behalf of the employer.

Hours: Usually 8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday

Wage: $33.92 to $44.71 per hour
