Dental Services

All Perth County elementary schools are visited throughout the year by the Health Unit dental staff. The dental team consists of a Registered Dental Hygienist and a Dental Assistant. Statistical data is collected and forwarded to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care on an annual basis. This information allows the Health Unit to assess the dental needs of the community.

All students in Grade Two will be surveyed each year and other students in other grades will be screened in selected schools. Any parent who wishes their child to be screened at school should notify the school before the scheduled screening date. Dental screenings are also available at the Health Unit for children not attending school.

Financial assistance is available for families that have children/youth (0-17 years of age) that are in urgent need of dental care. This program is not a dental insurance plan. It is designed to provide basic dental care to restore your child to a reasonable level of oral health.

Preventive services such as dental sealants, fluoride applications and scaling are also available for eligible students.
