Sexually Transmitted Infections are infections passed from one person to another during unprotected (no condom) sexual activity. Vaginal or anal intercourse, without using a condom, are the most risky type of activities for transmitting sexually transmitted infections  but some infections can be passed just by touching or kissing an infected area.

Latex condoms are the best way to protect yourself against sexually transmitted infections.

In Canada some of the highest rates and increase in sexually transmitted infections are in young people ages 15 to 24. If you are having sex, or thinking about having sex, you need to know how to avoid sexually transmitted infections.
