Eat Smart! Ontario Healthy Restaurant Program Comes to an End

For almost a decade the Perth District Health Unit has awarded restaurants with the Eat Smart! Award of Excellence. This award recognized and promoted restaurants that were smoke free, held high standards in safe food handling, sanitation and cleanliness, and offered a variety of nutritious foods.

In 2009, the Ministry of Health Promotion decided to discontinue its support for the Eat Smart! Ontario Healthy Restaurant program and instead will focus its attention on the Eat Smart! School and Workplace Programs and the Recreation Centre Program. As a result, the Perth District Health Unit is no longer offering the Eat Smart! Ontario Healthy Restaurant program.
