Perth District Health Unit Strategic Plan for 2007-2010

The new strategic plan outlines how the Perth District Health Unit will align its activities for the next 3 years with its goal to achieve the greatest level of health for the people of Perth County.

Strategic Directions for 2007-2010

  • Refine core public health programs and services to meet the needs of Perth County residents

  • Be a champion for healthy communities in Perth County based on a population health approach

  • Model a healthy workplace that supports and invests in its employees

  • Create meaningful local and regional partnerships that advance the strategic goals of the PDHU and improve the health of the community

  • Ensure equitable access to PDHU programs and services

  • Be a recognized key health player in the local health system
The Health Unit began the process of revising our strategic plan early in 2007. The process included reviewing local, provincial and national public health reports; interviewing key stakeholders, community partners and Health Unit employees; and consulting with senior staff and the Board of Health.

These strategic directions reflect emerging areas of priority for PDHU including a focus on addressing the determinants of health, environmental health issues, and creating solid partnerships with the new Family Health Teams and the Southwest Local Health Integration Network (LHIN).
