Health Information A-Z > Rabies Control
There was minimal rabies activity in Perth County in 2009, which is surprising given the significant activity in previous years. In 2009, 2 animals in Perth County tested positive for rabies. The reported cases include one skunk and one bat. In 2008, seventeen animals tested positive for rabies.
It is suspected that the rabid animals came into contact with rabid skunks. Both livestock and domestic animals are at risk of contracting rabies. To protect you and your family, make sure that your animals are vaccinated against rabies.
