HPAI identified in poultry in Perth County

Huron Perth, ON– Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been identified in live poultry delivered by an independent third party to a commercial processing plant in Perth County.


HPAI is caused by different virus strains than those that cause seasonal influenza (“the flu”) in humans. Also, the HPAI H5N1 virus does not easily cross from birds to humans.

COVID-19 vaccine clinics cancelled due to inclement weather

Huron Perth, ON – Due to inclement weather, Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is cancelling the following COVID-19 vaccination clinics on Thursday, December 15:

  • HPPH Clinton Office | 77722B London Road, Clinton  
  • HPPH West Gore Office | 653 West Gore Street, Stratford

Anyone who had an appointment at these clinics will need to rebook.  HPPH will not contact individuals to reschedule appointments.

Huron Perth, ON – Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) has released a new report, The Real Cost of Eating in Huron and Perth. The report found that in 2022, the cost of groceries for a family of four in Huron Perth was $249 per week, or $1,076 per month. Huron Perth, ON – As a challenging respiratory illness season continues, Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is extending the availability of flu shots at its COVID-19 vaccine clinics until the end of December.

HPPH began offering flu shots on November 15 to individuals receiving a COVID-19 vaccine and has seen good uptake.

Anyone aged five and older who is receiving a COVID-19 vaccination at an HPPH clinic can also receive a flu shot if they wish. HPPH is not offering influenza vaccines on their own...
